Book Review # 31 - Blood Bound

Blood Bound
(Mercy Thompson, Book 2)

by

Patricia Briggs

Back Cover: "Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places--and in dark ones. And now she owes on of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind. But this new vampire is hardly ordinary---and neither is the demon inside of him."

Blood Bound is the 2nd book in the Mercy Thompson series. Mercy isn't a werewolf, she is a shape shifter and can shift into a coyote. In addition to shape shifting, she can also speak to ghosts. Her skills come in handy sometimes. However when Stefan calls in a favor, she isn't so sure. Stefan goes to confront a rouge vampire who has brought along a demon. Mercy is thrown into between the vampires, the werewolves and even the fae, because it seems she is only one who can fight this thing. Her friendships with Adam and Samuel and Stefan are tested as all three vie for her affections. Blood Bound is writen from Mercy's viewpoint in first person perspective. The story is well written and the characters 3rd dimensional. Highly recommended, but I do suggest reading the series in order. Next up - Iron Kissed.

Patricia Briggs is a new to me author I discovered last year when I read Moon Called. I don't think I reviewed it, but was impressed by her writing.
