Fisherman's Wharf - Monterey
These three pelicans were hanging out on the pier next to the whale watching boat. When we returned from the trip, they were still there. Father took lots of pictures. Have you ever been up close and personal to a Pelican? Me neither. They actually are quite beautiful - in their own way.

James Marshall - Back off!Right about this point, we are both telling James to back off. I'm expecting him to get pecked at any moment. Father quits shooting for the moment and misses the magic shot. See the pelican with his wings spread. He turned around very quickly.
Slapped in the face by Mr Gumpy the Grumpy Pelican
He runs back to us laughing. What other kid do you know whose been slapped in the face by a Pelican.
