Fun Monday - The one song that is you.

Crown Princess at Ooh, a Shiny Pen is hosting Fun Monday this week

Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you. You can post the video, the lyrics, the wav file. However you want to post it is great.”

The first thing I thought when I read this was “no way.” I don’t have a song that is me. I couldn’t think of a single thing. Then for some reason a song from Grease 2 came to mind. I like listening to Grease 2 when I clean the house – love love love “cool rider.” If you have ever watched Grease 2 you’ll know the song I am talking about. Michelle Phillips starts singing up on top of a ladder, doing a sexy dance. I always imagine myself in her place, up there on that ladder, belting out the song. However, when I sing, James covers his ears and runs for the hills.

If you really want to know
What I want in a guy...
Well, I'm lookin' for a dream on a mean machine
With hell in his eyes.
I want a devil in skin tight leather,
And he's gonna be wild as the wind.
And one fine night, I'll be holdin' on tight...

To a coooool rider, a coooool rider.
If he's cool enough,
He can burn me through and through.
Whhoa ohhhh
If it takes forever,
Then I'll wait forever.
No ordinary boy,
No ordinary boy is gonna do.
I want a rider that's cool.

That's the way it's gonna be,
And that's the way that I feel.
I want a whole lot more than the boy next door,
I want hell on wheels.
Just give me a fine motorcycle,
With a man growin' out of the seat.
And move aside, cause I'm gonna ride...

(Chorus)

I don't want no ordinary guys,
Comin' on strong to me.
They don't know what I'm lookin' for,
They don't know what I need.
They're gonna know when he gets here,
Cause the crowd will be shakin'.
I'll do anything to let him know,
That I'm his, his for the takin'.

I want a coooooool rider,
A cool, cool, cool, cool rider.
I want a coooooool rider,
A cool, cool, cool, cool rider.
I want a C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R.
I need a C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R.

Yep! That was the first song that came to mind. Why? Don’t ask me. Sometimes even I don’t know where it comes from.

What song makes friends or family think of me? Haven’t the foggiest. Hey mom and dad, siblings, friends, romans, countryman – have an answer??????

I asked Father last night at Dinner "Is there a song you think of when you look at me?" Blank look, hemming and hawing, jokes about three stooges, mothra, etc.

After dirty looks and flinging mashed potatoes with a fork, "Serious answer, please."

"No, I just see you. When I'm listening to music, a song will remind me of you. When I look at you, I'm not thinking of music. (wink wink nudge nudge)

Father and I have a song that is us. Ella Fitzgerald’s ‘The Man I Love.’

Someday he'll come along
The man I love
And he'll be big and strong
The man I love
And when he comes my way
I'll do my best to make him stay

He'll look at me and smile
I'll understand
And in a little while
He'll take my hand
And though it seems absurd
I know we both won't say a word

Maybe I shall meet him Sunday
Maybe Monday, maybe not
Still I'm sure to meet him one day
Maybe Tuesday will be my good news day

He'll build a little home
Just meant for two
From which I'll never roam
Who would, would you?
And so, all else above,
I'm waiting for the man I love

On our eight anniversary, I created a picture with a piano and the words of the song, framed it and gave it to Father. He cried.

I asked James what his song is and he burst into

“I love Godzilla, I love Godzilla, I love Godzilla, I am a Godzilla fannnnnnnnnnn.”

Imagine it in soto voice.
