Row80 Mid Week Check in - A bouquet of sharpened pencils!

Courtesy of Melissa Doroquez

Shiny Pencils: In the midst of prepping for Nanowrimo 2011 and getting all my duck in a row which includes a nice new shiny notebook and sharpened pencils. I discovered my creativity flows best writing it all out rather than staring at a computer screen. Just have to make sure not to write too fast and my writing's legible so when I go back can actually read what I wrote. Have had a few head scratching moments in the past trying to decipher cryptic sentences. *grin*

30 days - 30 scenes
: Have a simple outline of 30 scenes and then got to a point where wasn't sure which direction I was going to go in, so stopped and turned to researching characters. It'll either become clear as I think about it or will come to me by the time I get there.

Nesting:  Between researching and planning, have been cleaning and decluttering. Feel like I'm nesting.   Blogging will probably sporadic during November so may be doing quickie row80 check-in's on group facebook page.

Check in with other ROWers and see what they are doing.

My gift to everyone participating in Nanowrimo - A bouquet of shiny, sharpened pencils. Have fun!

  1. Cleaning and decluttering I believe helps your mind too!!! May you wear down each nub on the pencils with your writing!!

  2. Aww.. a pencil.. for me? You shouldn't have! hehe. I know exactly how you feel about writing long hand. I do so much better that way but my handwriting is atrocious. The pain of trying to read it is often worth it though ;) Good luck!

  3. Hi Robin! Love that bouquet...thank you! On the pencil note, I found my box of graphite pencils the other day and I'm going to use them, I decided. They have varying degrees of softness and I like a soft pencil that writes very bold. I'm weird, I know! I alos found a big pack of legal pads in a box from our move...woot! So, writing implements...check. My planning is going so-so, but I WILL be ready! Only a handful of days left. Scared and excited at the same time!

  4. Sounds like you are going to be able hit November on a run and all prepared. Hope your pencils never break!

  5. Nesting is a good word for it...everyone's prep for NaNo is kind of making me consider joining next year. I'm very curious about how many hours each week you are legitimately working through the NaNo stuff...good luck to you!

  6. I think my handwriting muscles are completely atrophied. I get about a quarter of the way into a page and nothing is legible anymore. But I do love to mind map and make lists on paper. Something magical about that. Thanks for the pencils!

  7. I love pencils! Especially nice sharp ones! *dances around with my new bouquet!* Congrats on your progress and on the decluttering. I have been doing the same thing of late--makes me feel like I have accomplished something by crossing out stuff on my to do list! Good luck the rest of the week and with NaNo. I am both excited and terrified at the thought of November 1 being here in just a matter of days!

  8. Yay, glad the NaNo prep is in order! I've also got myself a shiny notebook and a handful of pens to work with. What I really need to do this weekend, though, is tackle all the housework that I've been putting off, so thanks for the reminder. :D

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Sounds like you are doing very well. I'm excited about NaNo, and not ready at the same time. I'm starting to like the notebook better for when I'm stuck in my writing. I don't know what it is about long hand, but it is relaxing. Now if only my handwriting was legible...

  10. Funny when you spoke about nesting, made me look at NaNo like a baby due in a month. Guess it kind of is like that! ;-)

Best of luck with NaNo. I'm pulling for you. It doesn't work for me this year, but I hope seeing all of you ROW80 writers participating will help me kick butt on my own wordcounts.
