A Well Read Life

A WELL READ LIFE

(formerly Well Educated Mind)

If the link for the Well Educated Mind list brought you here, welcome to L.E.S.T.E.R: Our Literary Exploration Society to Expand Reading blog.   We have decided to expand our selection of reads beyond Western Classical Education. While Well Trained Mind and Well Educated Mind by Susan Bauer were instrumental in our homeschool journey, we realize they were limited in scope. As we have grown older and wiser, we realize there is a world of books out there and multiple curated lists to choose from.

I had the benefit of well educated father and mother who taught me to think critically and thoughtfully and how to be open minded. My siblings and I were brought up in a household where we discussed and debated concrete and abstract, divergent and convergent, political and religious ideas, taking into account the facts, and how to analyze those thoughts and ideas.   Plus while others may have differing viewpoints, whether based on emotion or fact, we must respect their opinion.  My parents helped me become a life long learner and in turn, we passed on to our son the desire to learn and provided him with the knowledge to analysis and differentiate between fact and fiction, emotion and logic, and how to express his thoughts and opinions while accepting others worldviews.

While becoming well read, it is important to learn how to journal, annotate, or keep a common place book to keep notes on all your thoughts and ideas. Below are a few of my favorite Youtubers and books currently on my shelves.
