News of the Day: NaNoWriMo Writing Challenge

I know, I know!

I am supposed to be working on my midterm, however I came across NaNoWriMO and am having the INSANE notion to give it a try. What is it: National Novel Writing Month which runs only from November 1st through the 30th"

"National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30"

I am only contemplating it at this point, but seriously considering. With every thing else I have to do, it would involve writing at least 1666 words per day for 30 days. Do you think I can do it! Would you?

  1. Would I? No way and I'm not even a student. I'm not much of a writer either so that's the biggest reason I wouldn't do NaNoWriMo. I applaud those who are writers and who take the plunge.

  2. Good luck with the Writing.

Would I do it? No way, not at this current season of my Life. :-) Not even tempting me. :-)

As The Byrds reminded us, To Everything There Is A Season. (!)

Aww, come on, am I the only person who had that 45 as a child? (Anyone? anyone?)

    :-)

  3. Hi Robin...I don't know if it’s possible to write a book in a month. Sounds like an impossible task, however???? I am going to ask mom if she has any ideas for a book. She told me that she would like to write a book by taking pictures of the American flag around the country and put it in a book but that would take years to do. I guess I could write a book about the stock market but it would have a limited readership. I think I could collect enough info to write a book on Mrs. Clinton but I don't want to endanger the family. Most people who are negative about the Clintons are destroyed in one way or another. Back to your book, mom says, is always write a book about what you know best. "Being a home schooler and why you became one." That would be interesting. We have a failed socialized school system and that is why people are turning to private schools and home schooling. I was asked what I thought about a national medical program and my comment was, " Why not a national auto program?" The person said, please explain. I said anything that the government runs turns out to be a failure when it tries to compete with the free market system. That's what's wrong with education, that’s why social security is going broke, Medicare and Medicade is a disaster. Welfare in a disaster and look at how well the government is doing on immigration. Maybe I should write a short book on government run programs in the world???? Your mom says I have to learn to shut my brain down. All you did was ask about writing a book and off I go.

    Love you. Dad

THAT WAS SWEET OF THOSE GALS TO COMMENT ON OUR STORIES..NOTHING UNUSUAL ABOUT THE STORIES THEMSELVES..JUST KIND OF OLD FASHIONED..PEGGY MET FLOYD WHEN HE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER BEING SHOT THRU WITH ELECTRICITY ON HIS JOB AS A LINEMAN FOR THE PHONE COMPANY.. ALMOST KILLED HIM..JUST MISSED HIS HEART.. WE WORKED WITH HIS OLDER SISTER AT THE PLACE WHERE WE WERE ALL CARHOPS..AND PEGGY JUST HAPPENED TO BE WITH "BABE" WHEN SHE WENT TO VISIT HER BROTHER IN THE HOSPITAL..57 YEARS LATER HERE THEY ARE..
AND YOUR STORY IS MOST UNUSUAL OF ALL..HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN SAY THEY MET THRU THE CLASSIFIEDS.. NOWADAYS IT IS THE INTERNET,HUH..

WELL GOTTA GET TO CHURCH.. HERE WE ARE TODAY AT OUR 53RD ANNIVERSARY OF BEING MARRIED IN THE CHURCH..IT IS ONE OF MY FONDEST WISHES THAT YOUNG COUPLES CAN GET THRU THEIR DIFFICULT TIMES AND STAY TOGETHER SO THEY CAN ENJOY THE LUXURY OF BEING LOVING COMPANIONS LATER IN LIFE.. IT IS SUCH A COMFORTABLE FEELING.. BUT ONLY COMES WITH GOD AS THE GLUE THAT HOLDS THEM TOGETHER..

  8. Love your first three shirts especially!

Hey, I didn't know you were one of the Well-Drained Mind ladies. I'd forgotten about that blog. Have you noticed how many homeschoolers are on Fun Monday lately? How'd that happen anyway? I just keep wondering if I "know" any of them from elsewhere on the internet. These internet connections are pretty crazy sometimes. They certainly weave an interesting *web*;o)
