Row80 Midweek check in - plodding

July 4 to September 22

Slow and steady seems to be my mantra lately.   Writing is a lot like doing the treadmill..slow and steady will get you there.   I also discovered that doing the treadmill for an hour at zero grade versus 30 minutes at 6.5 grade equals out in calories and it is less painful on my ankles.  Thank goodness for my nook.   According to our fearless leader Kait we are about halfway there.  I'm hoping, fingers crossed (virtually) will be done with the first draft of Red Thief by the end of this round come September 22nd.   Pretty much have decided won't be doing NaNoWriMo this year.  Really need to concentrate on editing the next round.  Watch me eat my words later when a really neat story idea comes up.

  1. I'd much rather do 1 hr less impact than 30 min high. Slow and steady is a good mantra. I too, have decided against NaNoWriMo mainly because I have to butcher my own turkey and I know it's kinda emotional and will pull me out of the game for a while.

Great job on the first draft!

  3. Sometimes it can be easier to make slower but constant progress instead of burning yourself out over a few fast bursts of super productivity (says someone who is often guilty of the latter). The same is true in many aspects of life.
I want to do NaNoWriMo, but I don't know how successful I'll be since I don't finish uni til mid November.

  4. I admire your persistence with the writing and hope that someday, I get there too!

  5. My husband used to scoff at me for only using 0 or 1 on the treadmill until the doctor said I had plantar fasciitis (or however the heck it's spelled). It's good you were able to figure something else out to get your workout in.

Plodding along is the best way. I know I've had to sprint at the end of NaNoWriMo the last few years and it's been painful!

  6. I'm aiming at slow and steady myself. Good for you for sticking to your goals. Have a great weekend.

  7. I love your exercise analogy, so true. When I rush my writing, I often notice my editing takes longer. Slow and steady still finishes a manuscript and sometimes beats the hare. ;-)
